A little about Goole

Airmyn Road - Goole

Goole is situated in the county of East Yorkshire, England, roughly in the centre of a triangle formed by linking the cities of York, Hull and Doncaster. It is in a location well served by motorway, road, rail, inland waterway and overseas shipping links

The M62 Motorway passes by Goole providing easy access to the UK motorway network. Hull is a 30 minute drive away which itself has ferry links to the continent, Zeebrugge in Belgium and Rotterdam in Holland. Doncaster is roughly 25 minutes away and Leeds 45 minutes.

The recent pedestrianised town centre, has greatly improved shopping for visitors and residents. As a result many new businesses have been attracted to the town. Parking is free in most of the town, however, in Wesley square a charge is made (50p/hour at the time of writing).

Goole itself is a busy Port with shipping Links to mainland Europe and the rest of the world. The docks handle large amounts of cargo both import and export. Cars, timber and grain are three of the major imports.
A canal network is also used to transport goods from the port further inland.

A railway connection with direct trains to Hull, Doncaster and Leeds serves the town well.

Bus links also connect the town to the major local cities of Leeds, Doncaster, Hull and the nearby towns of  Howden and Selby.

The nearest commercial airport is  Robin Hood airport which is about 30 minutes away, closely followed by  Humberside Airport which is approximately 45 minutes by road. The next nearest is Leeds Bradford Airport which takes about 1 hour to travel to by road.
