The Goole Bus Forum brings

Representatives from local bus operators
including East Yorkshire Motor Services and Goole Gofar
Community Transport will be at the Forum.
The public is invited to raise any issue relating
to bus travel whilst local bus operators and East Riding
of Yorkshire Council give updates about improvements.
The event is organised and chaired by The City of
Hull & Humber Environment Forum (CHEF) – a local charity
that specialises in public transport consultation.
CHEF also organises regular Bus Forums in
Bridlington and Hull.
‘However often you use the bus come and have your say at
the Goole Bus Forum.
Together we can improve the quality of bus travel
in the Goole area.’ Adam Fowler, Community Environment
Officer, The City of Hull Environment Forum.
Bus It first visited Goole
in July 2002. This proved to be a tremendous success attracting about 75
people. As a direct result of inquires on that visit Service X62 from Hull
to Leeds via Goole now stops outside Hull Royal Infirmary. There is also
now a Saturday return journey from Goole to Airmyn.
Bus It is East Riding's
unique travelling information bus providing comprehensive local travel
information for all bus and rail services in the East Riding of Yorkshire. You
can obtain timetables, find out about services, plan a day trip and talk to
someone in person who can answer inquiries. Bus It is equipped with a
computerised journey planner to plan indivigual transport needs, includes
displays and a meeting area. You can even watch a video about some of the
issues facing bus services. Similarly, you can respond about local public
transport services and Bus It will investigate your issues with the bus
operators and local authority. Bus it is also particularly keen to promote
integrated public transport and will be advocating bus/rail links in Goole.
Goole is a local transport
hub with regular bus and train services to a variety of destinations in the
area. These include frequent train services to Hull, Doncaster and
Sheffield and a limited train service to Leeds and Goole. There are many
bus services including a frequent town service, hourly daytime services to
Doncaster, Selby, York with less frequent services to Hull, Gilberdyke, Leeds
and Swinefleet. Earlier this year, Arriva Yorkshire supported by
East Riding of Yorkshire Council and PATH (People and Transport in Howdenshire)
introduced new regular daytime services to Selby via Howden. This service
has since been extended to Hook. East Riding of Yorkshire Council also
supports a Sunday service between Goole, Selby and York.
Bus It has been developed by
the East Riding Rural Transport Partnership and is being delivered by The City
of Hull Environment Forum (CHEF) a charity which organises local bus forums
throughout Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. Bus It has so far
visited 60 locations this year attracting about 2000 inquiries. Bus It is
funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, The Countryside Agency and is
supported by East Yorkshire Motor Services.
Comment
'Bus It will build on the success of its earlier visit to Goole and help to make
public transport more accessible.'
